Born in Kingston-upon-Thames, Christine was raised in neighbouring Richmond until her family moved abroad when she was aged just 3 years.

The family travelled to many countries, settling in Aden in Yemen, but Christine’s travels extended across Europe and Asia.

Having been introduced to the cosmopolitan life as a child, Christine continues to follow her love for different cultures and countries, travelling extensively to Thailand, America, Milan, Spain, The Indian Ocean, Dubai, Africa and Hong Kong to name but a few. This love for travel was an early inspiration and passion for a world of design and love of beautiful things.

Christine Dando, attended The United World College of South East Asia in Singapore, training in design, pattern cutting and dress making. This was the launch pad for designing her first bridal collection.

Her interest in fashion and design began at her mother’s knee as Christine grew up surrounded by fabrics and sewing which nurtured her passion for beautiful fabrics and the creative process of turning them into stunning life-affirming dresses.

Christine was hugely influenced by the Royal Wedding of Diana and Charles on the 29th July 1981.

Christine Dando opened her first bridal boutique in 1985 specialising in bespoke designs made in the U.K. crafted in beautiful silk fabrics from James Hare and hand-beaded with pearls and Swarovski crystals.

Christine recognized the need for variety by offering a host of different designers alongside her own designs.

The successful business expanded with stores across the South of England, complimenting the first store opened in Farnham, Surrey.

Christine’s love of design prompted the consolidation of the retail business into the opening of a large flagship store of 5000sq. ft. in the Lakeside Shopping Centre in Essex, whilst retaining ownership of the first store in Farnham.

Christine was recruited to become Head Designer at Alfred Sung. This huge accolade saw her designing in Canada for Jai International. She was instrumental in developing the Callista collection, for brides with curves and also launched a collection, Christine Dando, under the Jai umbrella.

Christine’s philosophy is that every bride should feel amazing.

Christine relinquished her role as Head Designer for the Callista and Christine Dando collections, enabling her to launch her new brand Dando London.

Christine now divides her time between Canada and London.

DANDO London

When Christine designs the collection each and every gown has passion poured into the style, cut, fit, fabrics and hand finishing.

Attention to detail is a key factor alongside focusing on using the finest quality in fabrics and lace. The cut and fit of each gown is a focus on making sure that you will feel effortlessly beautiful as well as comfortably in a DANDO London design.

Inspiration is drawn from old Hollywood movies and actresses like Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn. Christine is also inspired by the environment in which she chooses to design from. She loves to be surrounded by beautiful things and the feeling of being at one with nature.

Dando London, together with Christine, can be seen on the TV show we all know and love “Say Yes to the Dress UK”, working with brides and following her passion, love and delighting in the joy of designing beautiful bridal gowns.
